In recent years, the demands on education have increased significantly, also due to the challenges created during the COVID-19 pandemic. Memorization-based learning and passive teaching methods are no longer sufficient to equip students with the skills and competencies necessary for success. There is a pressing need for innovative approaches that foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving – skills that are essential for navigating an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
Gamification — i.e., applying gamified elements in non-game contexts — has emerged as a promising approach to revolutionize education. By leveraging the inherent appeal of games, gamification transforms learning into an interactive and engaging experience. It taps into students' natural inclination towards play and fun, making the learning process more enjoyable and motivating. As VIVACE, we recently organized an event in Casablanca, Morocco, hosted by We Learn, an education innovation lab at the the Technopark. The event served as a platform to showcase the power of gamification in education and its potential to foster innovation and creativity among students. During the event, participants had the opportunity to engage with HabitGo, a habit-building game designed to promote positive everyday habits for young people to succeed. The game's interactive and immersive nature made learning enjoyable, enabling students to develop habits that would contribute to their long-term personal and academic growth.
