Kicking off the winter netwalking season
November 18, 2024
What is netwalking?
Netwalking is a unique concept that blends networking and walking, fostering an environment where professionals can build connections and share ideas while enjoying the benefits of being outdoors. This innovative approach offers a refreshing alternative to traditional networking events, which often take place indoors in formal settings.
We tried netwalking at Davos in January 2024, which allowed us to move conversations into the open air, enjoy the beauty of the areas surrounding Davos and engaging in meaningful dialogues while promoting physical activity and mental well-being. Participants can connect over their shared interest in nature and business, creating an energized and dynamic atmosphere for collaboration and innovation.
How does netwalking work?
For VIVACE, there are three key elements to a successful netwalking:
A sustainability topic relating to industry, energy, circular economy, among others: This provides a focal point for discussions and encourages participants to explore new ideas and solutions.
A one-hour walk in nature with three other people interested in this issue: This small group setting encourages open and meaningful conversations, allowing participants to get to know each other better.
An edited recording to be shared with teams and friends: This allows for the dissemination of ideas and insights gained during the netwalking experience, providing a platform for continued discussions and collaboration.
Why is netwalking beneficial?
Netwalking offers numerous benefits to both individuals and organizations. First, it promotes physical activity, which has been shown to have positive effects on overall health and wellbeing… enhanced creativity, reduced stress levels and improved mental clarity - all factors that can positively impact business performance.
Netwalking encourages participants to think outside the box by discussing topics in a non-traditional setting. This can lead to new perspectives and innovative solutions. Furthermore, netwalking provides a more relaxed atmosphere for networking and building connections.
By engaging in conversations while walking, participants are less likely to feel the pressure of traditional networking events, making it easier and more enjoyable to connect with others.
Continuing the netwalking trend
Netwalking has gained popularity in recent years as a unique and effective way to network and connect with others.
It has been adopted by various organizations and conferences, as a means to enhance their events and create meaningful experiences for attendees. As our society becomes more health-conscious and environmentally aware, netwalking offers a perfect blend of physical activity, nature immersion, and professional development.
We look forward to continuing this tradition next year at Davos: please get in touch if you'd like to join us!
